Bed Care
Your bed has been made by hand using time-honoured techniques to ensure a beautiful, quality product, and with some time and love will continue to endure for years to come.
Below are a few simple things you can do to keep your fabric sofa in tip-top condition.
-
General Care Tips
-
Avoid placing your bed in direct sunlight where possible. The colour will fade in bright sunlight.
-
Do not place your bed too close to heat sources, such as radiators. This can damage the fabric and in extreme cases could cause the frame to warp.
-
Always lift your bed - never drag it. This will protect your flooring and prolong the life of your legs.
-
Check legs are tightened. Loose legs will make your bed less stable and could cause the leg to break. Don’t over tighten - this can lead to stress the potential breakage.

Velvet beds
Velvet is a luxurious fabric that needs a little special attention to keep it looking great. Velvet has a cut pile which means it will look lighter or darker depending on which way the pile sits. Smooth your hand over a velvet sofa back and forth and you’ll know what we mean.
-
When it arrives, the packaging may leave crush marks on your bed. These will lift out with time but gently brushing in the opposite direction of the pile will help remove these wrinkles. Heavier pressure marks can be removed using a steamer.
-
Spot clean using a mild, water-free solvent or dry cleaning product, following the manufacturer’s directions. Water-based cleaning products may create water stains.
-
Always test any cleaning product on an inconspicuous area first.
-
For more extensive cleaning, consult a professional upholstery cleaner.

Linen beds
-
Linen fabrics are prone to piling (the little bobbles on the surface) which can be remove easily with a ‘Fuzz Away’ fluff remover. This happens naturally and will lessen over time.
-
Spot clean with upholstery shampoo, foam from a mild detergent, or mild dry-cleaning solvent. Do not saturate with liquid.
-
For extensive cleaning we recommend you consult a professional upholstery cleaner.

Leather beds
-
Wipe down regularly with a slightly damp cloth.
-
DO NOT use detergent or any cleaning products - your leather sofa bed is a natural material and has all the essence and necessary oils in it to stay in tip-top condition.
-
Spills must be soaked up immediately with a clean, lint-free absorbent cloth. Blot the spill - do not dab or rub as this will push the spill deeper into the leather.
