We’re thrilled to announce that our classic Ives chair, with matching footstool, has been reinvented for 2015 thanks to our a partnership with Liberty Art Fabrics. This supremely comfy chair is the perfect place to curl up in on a lazy afternoon, has generous proportions, and is ideal for accenting your home style and existing furniture.
Liberty London is an internationally recognised leader in floral, paisley, and patterned fabrics, and, as a Royal Warrant holder, the store has a commitment to inspirational and impeccable goods. Continuing this trend, their Secret Garden fabric collection has been designed in conjunction with Liberty’s 140th anniversary, and Sofa Workshop is delighted that our reinvented Ives chair now showcases the collection’s Jeffery Rose Tree fabric.
This rich fabric is soft and tactile, and the perfect pairing for our new House Velvet fabric. Velvet is prominent in interior and home furniture collections this season, so the Ives chair and footstool are right on trend for autumn/winter 2015. Both the Secret Garden collection and Sofa Workshop’s House Velvet come in a variety of colour options, so no matter your interior, there will be a colourway to complement it.
The Liberty Art Fabric Secret Garden collection was actually based on the classic British children’s novel The Secret Garden. Colour and texture are a focal point of this collection, and the ten new Liberty designs, in a selection of captivating colourways, have been created to bring the garden into your home. The collection is full of a wonderful richness of texture, colour, and fabric, as equally focused on the world of design as the natural world.
Frances Hodgson Burnett, author of The Secret Garden, wrote of the essence of nature at its most beautiful, a key feature that Liberty’s designers were keen to translate into their designs. The Secret Garden collection brings a diverse series of flora, foliage, and textures into the home that reflects the changing seasons outside. The fabric collection was created with innovative techniques; hammering flowers to release their natural dyes, dip-dying vintage tassels, and directly painting onto leaves were all methods used to create the vibrant and rich colour palettes of the collection.
The rich history of the Secret Garden fabric collection and the design techniques used make the Jeffery Rose Tree an ideal fabric for the Ives chair and the perfect match for Sofa Workshop’s House Velvet.
Emma Mawston, Head of Design Interiors at Liberty Art Fabrics, said “As the Jeffery Rose Tree design took approximately three months to create, it is wonderful to see it placed so beautifully on a statement piece of furniture that will become an heirloom for generations to come”.
The Ives chair is available now and, as with all Sofa Workshop pieces, can be tailored to your needs. The bolster and optional footstool are available in one of our companion House Velvets.
