Top Christmas Events South West 2015

Christmas is on its way, so get into the festive spirit and pop along to one of these fantastic Christmas events happening near to our stores in the south west this year.

Festival of Light, Longleat, 13th November – 3rd January

Hundreds of illuminated designs are being used to transform the world-famous estate into a glowing winter wonderland. Longleat’s Festival of Light for 2015 is themed around two Chinese imperial dynasties – the Qin, who created the Terracotta army, and the Tang, the most prosperous dynasty of ancient China.

Bath on Ice, 20th November – 3rd January

Bath’s only outdoor ice rink is returning this Christmas for more festive fun. Come and skate, and then recuperate in the Ice Lounge bar with mulled wine, hot chocolate, and pizza.

The Bath Christmas Grotto, 21st November – 24th December

This is the only grotto in Bath this year, so come on down and delight the little ones with a visit to Father Christmas in a wintery replica of his North Pole workshop.

Bath Christmas Market, 26th November – 13th December

The award-winning Bath Christmas Market returns for 2015. Each year, the centre of Bath is transformed into a shopper’s paradise as over 170 chalets line the picturesque streets. The organisers have spent months carefully handpicking the stallholders, and there’ll be stalls selling clothing, accessories, jewellery, decorations, ceramics, and much, much more.

Christmas at the American Museum, 26th November – 20th December

Every Christmas, the American Museum is transformed for the festive season. This year they’re celebrating winter traditions, and each period room will be decorated to show a different seasonal pastime. Sneaky snowmen have hidden themselves throughout the building – can you spot them all?


German Christmas Market

German Christmas Market, 6th November – 22nd December

Visitors are invited to wander around the 38 traditional chalets, decorated with festive greenery and colourful lights, to find an amazing array of goods to enjoy. There are traditional German Christmas decorations, wooden toys, baskets, soaps, lamps, and jewellery, as well as delicious food and drink.

Christmas Ice Rink, 7th November – 5th January

At-Bristol has transformed the Millennium Square into a winter playground where guests can skate underneath the stars with friends and family.

Winter Wonderland, 12th November – 10th January

This is the largest outdoor ice rink in the south-west, and it’s open every day except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Santa’s Enchanted Ice Castle, 12th November – 24th December

Come and see Santa in his magical ice castle – but make it quick! He has to leave on Christmas Eve to deliver presents to children all around the world.

Christmas at the Spiegeltent, 27th November – 19th December

Christmas at the Spiegeltent celebrates its fourth year at Waterfront Square on Bristol Harbourside, and they promise a fantastic line-up of live music, cabaret, comedy, Christmas parties, markets, and much more.

Magdalen Road Christmas Fair, 5th December

This urban village of 50 stallholders will be coming back to Exeter this Christmas. The stallholders will be from all over the West Country, selling food, drink, and all sorts of gifts. There’ll be music, entertainment, fun activities, and fairground rides to enjoy as well.

Christmas with the Cathedral Choir, 12th & 16th December

The choristers and adults of the Cathedral Choir will start your Christmas in a spectacular style, with a mixture of favourites, old and new, and a few surprises to raise the roof.

Sleeping Beauty, 12th December – 3rd January

The Exeter Corn Exchange will be presenting one of the most-loved traditional pantomimes, Sleeping Beauty. The princess of all pantomimes will be lavishly presented, and the festive tale will be told with merriment, melody, and a lot of slapstick fun.

The Steampunk Yule Ball, 12th December

For one day only, the Exeter Phoenix will be transformed into a steampunk utopia, playing host to the UK’s best steampunk musicians, performers, authors, traders, and creators for a day and night of interesting couture, unique performances, unusual workshops, DJs, cocktails, and teapots – there really is something for everyone.

Christmas Fun Raceday, 17th December

Make it a date and celebrate Christmas at Exeter racecourse, where festive cheer, a great atmosphere, and fantastic camaraderie are guaranteed.
