Little Lady - Sofa Workshop

We stumbled across this beautiful antique chair one very early, very dark and very cold morning at a local antiques fair. Shining our torch on her (yes it was that early) we saw that she had been well loved and well used to say the least. The original covering was missing, the hessian was worn with the old horse hair stuffing spilling from the splits. She was such a pretty shape and had so much character we just couldn’t leave her behind. We were excitedly imagining her life and talking about all the homes she must have been in all the way back to the workshop. Once we had her on the bench in the safety of our workshop we resisted the temptation to re-upholster her and instead decided to recreate her. Our most experienced frame maker and upholsterer set to creating a new chair with her as the inspiration. Using the same proportions, style and some of the original detailing we created our new 'Little Lady' chair. We chose to complete her in beautiful Orchard fabric from Morris & Co, one of their fabrics celebrating 150 years of William Morris. Unfortunately our original antique find is not for sale and will be 'on tour' throughout our stores over the coming months but you can buy our very lovely new Little Lady in any fabric of your choice.
