Feather, fibre or foam? Which interior is best for you?
Comfort is one of the most important factors when choosing a sofa and everybody has their idea of what ‘comfort’ is.
Everybody is built differently so what suits one person may not suit you. If you are able to visit a store, make sure you spend a while sitting on the sofas you like, to make sure they are truly comfortable for you. Sit in them as you would at home, put your feet up and get comfy.
On many of our models you can also change the interiors if you want a softer or more supportive sit.
Our stores have examples of all the different types of interiors so you can see (or feel) what suits you.
Although we offer several different interiors to suit your needs the main three are;
Feather - a feather interior gives the most relaxed look of all our options. It will flatten when sat on and look far more casual than foam, not everyone's cup of tea. Feather is the most traditional interior and is wonderfully soft. It will need plumping and turning daily to keep it looking and feeling wonderful. If you have allergies, stay away from feather!
Fibre - a fibre interior has a slightly softer feel than foam and gives a slightly more relaxed look. It will need to be turned and plumped regularly, to keep it nice and comfy.
Foam - a foam seat interior will give you a firmer, slightly more springy sit than a fibre interior. It will also only require a little maintenance to keep it looking smart.
All interiors will need plumping, some more than others, seats and back cushions too.
The best way to plump cushions is to remove them from the sofa, punch them from all sides then drop them onto a clean floor. This pushes air back into the cushion , maintaining its shape and comfort.
Don't forget to rotate your cushions to help even out the wear and minimise any potential fading from sunlight.
