Living the Country Life, Scandi-style

We’re so excited to be at the Country Living fairs this year.

One of the room sets we’ll be showing off celebrates the Scandi Pastels trend. What a perfect look as we come into Christmas!

The Scandi trend has been around for some time. But it’s moved on from bare wood and layers of white upon white. So we’ve been looking at the Scandi-style makeover.

Pick pastels

Colour’s a clear winner in the new look Nordic scene. Add accents of pretty pastels, set off with warm greys. (They work well with metallics too.)

Clear the clutter

The minimalist look is still part of the look. So find clever ways to hide things away and keep surfaces clear.

Graphic prints

Scandinavian designers create some incredible patterns. Tap into the look with graphic prints on fabrics.

Folksy feel

Part of Scandi’s appeal is its homely, hand-constructed feel. But if you’re not a confident crafter, you can just pick up knits and hand-finished items for the same effect.

Layer textures

The minimalist aesthetic shouldn’t be stark. You can keep it cosy for this time of year by building texture through textiles and surfaces. Mix shiny metallics and matte woods, and throw in a whole host of irresistibly tactile fabrics too.

Take a trip

Of course, you could make your way to the Nordic countries for more inspiration. But it could be easier (and warmer) to make your way to a Country Living Fair happening near you. We’d love to see you there!
